Hundreds of people protest in Ceuta to demand more security ahead of the start of the school year

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General6 September 2026 at 16:26

Around 500 people protested on Sunday in Ceuta against the management of the Spanish Government of the migratory crisis that the autonomous city has been facing since July 30. The protests aimed to demand "real measures, solutions and expulsion" of migrants, as well as to demand the guarantee of security and rights of Ceuta minors before the start of the school year.

The participants in the demonstration were wearing flags of Spain and Ceuta and carried posters with slogans such as "we demand solutions and expulsion" and "for the children of Ceuta". Those gathered demanded the resignation of the Government delegate, Miguel Ángel Pérez Triano, and asked that security be guaranteed in educational establishments so that minors can return to educational centers this week.

During the protest, various slogans were chanted such as "invaders, expulsion", "Delegate resignation" and "our children want freedom". The demonstration arose in a context of growing tension in the city due to the migratory flow that has affected the region since the end of July, leading citizens to demand concrete actions from authorities to protect the local population and, especially, Ceuta's children.
