When owners go for walks with their dogs, it is common for the animals to sniff and, in some cases, eat plants and flowers they find along the way. This behavior can represent a serious risk to the animals' health, as some plants are extremely toxic and can lead dogs to death.
The list of the most dangerous plants was prepared based on the toxicity class guide from the University of California. The classification system divides plants into four levels: class 1, which represents the main toxicity capable of causing serious illness or death; class 2, with minor toxicity that can cause vomiting; class 3, which contains oxalate crystals and can irritate the mouth, tongue, and throat; and class 4, which causes dermatitis with skin rashes or skin irritations.
Rhododendron, also known as Azalea, is the first plant on the list with toxicity level 1. This means it can cause serious illness and lead the dog to death. The plant is found mainly in colder regions of Brazil, such as Santa Catarina.
