The culture and traditions of Miranda do Douro were highlighted in Italy during September 4th and 5th, at the XV edition of the Raduno Internazionale delle Maschere Antropologiche, held in Tricarico, in the Basilicata region. The event is dedicated to ancestral traditions, masks, music, dance and popular rituals.
The Pauliteiros Mirandeses from Palaçoulo and the traditional figures of the Velha, the Bailador and the Bailadeira, from Vila Chã de Braciosa, represented the municipality at this international gathering that brought together communities from various countries.
The participation allowed to showcase beyond borders some of the most emblematic cultural manifestations of the Miranda Plateau. The presence of Miranda do Douro also constituted an opportunity to promote and enhance an intangible cultural heritage that remains alive and deeply connected to the identity and the people of the territory.
