The Cape Verdean President today defended the need to investigate the causes of the bus accident that occurred on Fogo island. The accident caused at least 25 deaths.

The head of state wants the circumstances that led to the crash to be determined, while not neglecting, however, the assistance to the dozens of families affected by this tragedy.

The accident happened on Fogo island, one of the islands in the Cape Verde archipelago, and constitutes one of the worst recent tragedies in the country.

Group arrested in Duque de Caxias suspected of stealing luxury cars for Comando Vermelho

Four men were arrested by the Civil Police on Sunday afternoon (6) in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, suspected of being part of a gang responsible for at least 20 luxury vehicle thefts in the region. The arrest was carried out by officers from the 59th Police Station (Duque de Caxias), with support from the Military Police, at the intersection of Rua Orlando Teixeira and Avenida Brigadeiro Lima e Silva. According to investigations, part of the stolen cars was destined for Comando Vermelho and taken to communities dominated by the faction in different regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The police reached the suspects after cross-referencing information from the municipal monitoring system and identifying the vehicle used by the group, seizing materials used in the criminal actions, such as screwdrivers and an unspecified device.
