An accident on Fogo island, in Cabo Verde, caused more than two dozen deaths. Portugal's Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, today expressed deep consternation over the tragedy.

Montenegro extended heartfelt condolences to Cabo Verde, also expressing the solidarity of the Portuguese government in the face of the accident.

The accident on Fogo island represents a significant tragedy for the Cape Verdean archipelago, which is now receiving support and expressions of sympathy from the Portuguese executive.

Group arrested in Duque de Caxias suspected of stealing luxury cars for Comando Vermelho

Four men were arrested by the Civil Police on Sunday afternoon (6) in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, suspected of being part of a gang responsible for at least 20 luxury vehicle thefts in the region. The arrest was carried out by officers from the 59th Police Station (Duque de Caxias), with support from the Military Police, at the intersection of Rua Orlando Teixeira and Avenida Brigadeiro Lima e Silva. According to investigations, part of the stolen cars was destined for Comando Vermelho and taken to communities dominated by the faction in different regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The police reached the suspects after cross-referencing information from the municipal monitoring system and identifying the vehicle used by the group, seizing materials used in the criminal actions, such as screwdrivers and an unspecified device.
