A 37-year-old doctor was found dead inside the apartment where she lived, in Maringá, in northern Paraná, on Saturday night (5). The victim was identified as Gassi Paola de Souza Maria, also mentioned as Dra. Gassi P. Mazia in an official note from the Sarandi City Hall. Her son, still a baby, was near the body when police entered the residence.
The case is initially being investigated as feminicide, and the woman's partner is the main suspect. According to preliminary information, she had at least four stab wounds, and there is suspicion that she was killed by knife blows.
Residents in the area near Itororó Avenue, in Bosque 2, called the Military Police after hearing the baby cry for an extended period without anyone answering at the apartment. Teams from Samu and the Fire Department were also called to the scene.
Although neighbors reported sounds similar to gunshots, initial investigations found no evidence to confirm this information.
