On September 4th and 5th, 2026, the Cavalry Regiment No. 3 (RC3), located in Estremoz, was the venue for various activities with special emphasis on the tradition, heritage and culture of the region.
The main activity was the traditional Horse March from Elvas to Estremoz, which took place over these two days. On September 4th, riders and participants set off from Elvas heading to Estremoz, travelling through the landscapes of the Alentejo.
During the route, participants passed through Vila Viçosa, where, as tradition dictates, the usual ceremonial greetings took place, keeping alive a practice deeply rooted in this equestrian march.
On September 5th, attention turned once again to the road, with the continuation of the march towards Estremoz, thus completing the journey between the two Alentejo cities.
