Minister Cristiano Zanin, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), asked the Electoral Court to hold those involved in the disclosure of his confidential fiscal and banking data accountable, which were attached to the candidacy registration of Deltan Dallagnol. The documents were included by the defense of the former Lava Jato prosecutor in an attempt to contest the disqualification of the candidacy for the Senate for the Novo party in Paraná.
The material gathers information about Zanin and also about his wife, Valeska Zanin. The data was obtained in 2019, during Operation Lava Jato, when Zanin was still working as a lawyer for former president Lula. At the time, a court decision authorized the breaking of the couple's fiscal and banking confidentiality.
Subsequently, this measure was annulled by the Court, as well as the documents obtained from it. Despite the annulment, the confidential data ended up being attached to Dallagnol's candidacy process, which prompted Zanin's request for accountability.
According to Dallagnol's defense, the data was part of a disciplinary complaint filed by Zanin himself against the then prosecutor at the National Council of the Public Ministry, which would explain the presence of the material in the case.
