The President of the Republic of Cabo Verde traveled to Fogo island following a serious road accident. The information comes as the death toll rises to 25.

The accident occurred when a bus fell from a height of approximately 30 meters. The fall caused the vehicle to end up in a riverbed area of difficult access, which complicated the rescue operations.

In addition to the 25 confirmed deaths, the accident also left 18 injured. Authorities continue to work at the scene to confirm all the details of the incident.

Group arrested in Duque de Caxias suspected of stealing luxury cars for Comando Vermelho

Four men were arrested by the Civil Police on Sunday afternoon (6) in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, suspected of being part of a gang responsible for at least 20 luxury vehicle thefts in the region. The arrest was carried out by officers from the 59th Police Station (Duque de Caxias), with support from the Military Police, at the intersection of Rua Orlando Teixeira and Avenida Brigadeiro Lima e Silva. According to investigations, part of the stolen cars was destined for Comando Vermelho and taken to communities dominated by the faction in different regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The police reached the suspects after cross-referencing information from the municipal monitoring system and identifying the vehicle used by the group, seizing materials used in the criminal actions, such as screwdrivers and an unspecified device.
