Man dies after jumping from pier and diving headfirst into the sea in Turkey

oglobo6 September 2026 at 12:09

A 39-year-old man identified as Arif Erman died after jumping headfirst from a pier in the province of Antalya, on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The incident was captured on video and shows that he ignored the warnings about the area being too shallow for this type of maneuver. Arif did not survive the injuries caused by the severity of the dive.

The accident happened last Friday (4), around 3 PM (local time), in the Konakli neighborhood, in the city of Alanya. Arif was on vacation with his family at a hotel in the area, known for its exclusive hotels with sea views.

He was married and had three children, with whom he was spending vacation in the Mediterranean coast region. The family decided to go to the pier, one of the seaside relaxation spots with lounge chairs. The wooden structure is surrounded by a barrier that makes access and the view of the water difficult, which may have contributed to the tragedy.
