The Bank of Portugal presented a new research agenda extending until 2030, establishing the research priorities for the Portuguese central bank in the next decade. This agenda serves as a guiding document to direct the research and analysis efforts of the Portuguese central bank.
The new research strategy defines four main areas of study, organized into 18 subcategories. This structure allows for a comprehensive and detailed approach to the themes considered priority for the Bank of Portugal's activity.
According to the title of the agenda, the priorities focus on three fundamental axes: demography, digitalization and markets. These themes reflect the main economic and financial challenges that Portugal and the euro area currently face.
The definition of this long-term agenda demonstrates the Bank of Portugal's intention to anticipate and monitor the structural transformations that will shape the Portuguese economy in the coming decades, from demographic issues to the impact of digital transformation and the evolution of financial markets.
