The maintenance and intervention works taking place this morning on Via Rápida, on the subsection between Santo António and Santa Luzia, are causing serious road circulation problems. The works affect a specific section of the road, located between kilometers 16 and 17.2.
The congestion is occurring in the direction linking Ribeira Brava to Machico, where traffic queues already exceed one kilometer in length. The situation is significantly conditioning automobile circulation on that section of Via Rápida.
Drivers who use this road during the morning face considerable delays due to the ongoing works. The authorities have not yet provided a forecast for the completion of the interventions or for the normalization of traffic in the affected area.
