The viewpoint of Cabo Girão, one of the most emblematic tourist spots in Madeira, has already yielded 2.2 million euros so far. Almost 447 thousand paying visitors passed through the site by July, which represents significant growth in demand for this destination.
The numbers reveal that the revenue obtained in the first seven months of the year already exceeds by 85% the entire value forecast for 2025. This data highlights the positive impact of tourism on the region and the importance of Cabo Girão as a main attraction for visitors to the island.
The Municipality of Câmara de Lobos expressed the intention that the money generated by the viewpoint should have a direct return to the municipality. This claim arises in the context of the debate about the distribution of the economic benefits of tourism to local communities.
In the sporting domain, Portuguese football was marked by the law of the strongest, with Marítimo and Nacional yielding to Benfica and Sporting, respectively, in matches that highlighted the superiority of the Lisbon teams.
