At least 22 people died in a traffic accident involving a bus on the island of Fogo, in Cape Verde. The accident occurred on Saturday and the death toll was updated to 22, according to an official source who spoke to the Portuguese news agency.

In addition to the dead, there are still 18 injured from the accident. Among the injured, four are in serious condition, raising concerns about the evolution of their health status.

The information about the updated number of victims and the condition of the injured was confirmed to the Lusophone agency by an official source, at a time when Cape Verdean authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the accident.
