Pix broke the daily record for settled transactions on Friday, with 318,073,816 operations totaling R$ 186.89 million and an average value of R$ 587.58 per transaction. The previous record had occurred on December 5th of last year, when 313,339,828 Pix were settled, representing R$ 179.93 million with an average value of R$ 574.24.
Pix entered the sights of President Donald Trump's American government and was used as one of the arguments for the United States to approve the 25% surcharge on Brazilian exports. One of the claims for the measure is that Pix harms American companies by enabling a payment system that is, at the same time, operated and regulated by the Brazilian government.
The president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, rebutted the American criticism of Pix and even said that the arguments against Pix constitute a case. The article was cut off and did not complete Galípolo's sentence.
