The school year in Portugal is set to start with a significant shortage of teachers. The National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof) warned about this concerning situation affecting the Portuguese education system.
According to Fenprof, 211 vacancies for annual and full-time positions, which were put up for hiring through the school hiring process, failed to attract interested candidates. These numbers reveal the severity of the situation in the education sector.
The union federation also expressed concern by predicting a worsening of the teacher shortage problem throughout this school year, suggesting that the difficulties in hiring teachers will continue to intensify.
