Walcyr Carrasco, author of the soap opera "Quem ama cuida", spoke out after João Victor Gonçalves, the actor who plays the character Mau Mau in the storyline, was targeted by hostile provocations upon leaving Rock in Rio in the early hours of Saturday (5). The playwright classified the incident as a "homophobic attack" and expressed solidarity with the artist.
According to reports, João Victor was followed by some boys and was the target of comments and provocations because of the clothes he was wearing while leaving the music festival. The action was also broadcast live, amplifying the reach of the harassment episode.
Walcyr Carrasco stated that "homophobia is not entertainment, it's a crime" and asked the public to take a stand against this type of attitude. The author showed concern for the actor's well-being by writing: "I'm with you."
