The Municipal Youth Council of Vila Nova de Poiares took office as a new advisory body of the municipality, meeting at the Town Hall for an inaugural session. This body aims to strengthen the participation of young people from Poiares in public life and in decisions that affect the community.
During the meeting, Council members learned about the Poiares Youth 1.0 project, an initiative funded by the European Erasmus+ program. The project's main objective is to bring young people closer to democratic life and political decision-makers, promoting greater civic participation.
The creation of this council comes in the context of an effort to boost young people's involvement in municipal affairs, creating a formal space for dialogue between the young population and local political representatives. This advisory structure will allow young people to express their concerns and suggestions for the development of the municipality.
