A plane that departed from Paraguay heading to Madrid lands in Brazil due to "a technical problem"

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General5 September 2026 at 21:58

An Air Europa plane that departed from Paraguay on Friday heading to Madrid, Spain, had to make an emergency landing in Brazil due to a technical and operational problem. The information was confirmed by the National Civil Aeronautics Directorate (Dinac) in Asunción on Saturday.

The airline did not specify exactly what the technical problem was that motivated the route deviation. The flight had departed from Paraguay and had to be redirected to Brazilian territory.

In addition to the technical problem, media reports stated that passengers presented complaints about the alleged presence of ticks on board the aircraft during the flight.

Dinac, the Paraguayan aviation authority, was the official source that confirmed the incident, although it did not provide details about the full circumstances of the landing on Brazilian soil.
