Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, from the Republican party, announced on Saturday that the tender for contracting the Intercity Train between São Paulo and Sorocaba is expected to be completed in 2027. The forecast is that the contracting process will advance after the competitive dialogue stage with the market, a model that allows companies to participate in improving the project before the submission of proposals.
According to the governor, production of the trains that will serve the railway projects has already begun and a large portion of the equipment will be manufactured in Araraquara, in the interior of São Paulo state. This Saturday, Tarcísio visited the construction site of the Intercity Train between Campinas and São Paulo, in Vinhedo.
The governor stated that the work in Campinas is on schedule and that there are already 14 construction fronts underway. This is an old state government project, whose railway connection has been promised since 2013. Over the years, the project has gone through different administrations, formats, and delays until reaching the auction.
