CD Mafra beat SC Covilhã 1-0 at Estádio do Parque Eng. Ministro dos Santos, in a match from round 4 of Serie B of Liga 3. The game was marked by strong physical intensity, two red cards and a missed penalty in stoppage time.
The decisive goal came in the 71st minute, when Amadou Ba made a perfect through ball for Francisco Ferreira, who attacked the space with speed and finished accurately. Mafra started the match better, pressed high and created several dangerous approaches through Rodrigo Matos and Leandro Alves, but lacked in finishing. Covilhã had the best chance of the first half with a header from Cheikh Niang that hit the crossbar.
The game hardened in the second half. Yacouba Maiga received two yellow cards and was sent off at 74 minutes. After the sending off, Mafra reorganized and maintained control of the match. In stoppage time, a Covilhã player was also sent off for committing the foul that led to the penalty, but Braíma Sambú missed the spot kick, with the Serra da Estrela goalkeeper saving the shot.
