Bayern Munich created several offensive opportunities during the match played in Gelsenkirchen, totaling eleven corners in their favour and maintaining 83% possession throughout the game. The Bavarian side achieved an xG of 2.10, indicating that they created several clear goal-scoring situations.

Despite Bayern's constant pressure, goalkeeper Loris Karius managed to keep his goal inviolable until the end of the match. His performance was decisive for the final result of the game.

The match took place in the afternoon in Gelsenkirchen, a city that houses Schalke Stadium, which suggests that Karius was playing for the home team. The goalkeeper's performance allowed his team to resist Bayern Munich's dominant pressure.
