Portela defined this Saturday (5) the samba-enredo it will take to Carnival 2027. The school from Madureira, in Rio's North Zone, chose the composition that will pay tribute to Monarco, with the plot titled "To the master, with love." The decision was made after a final dispute that brought together 36 candidate works, presented by more than 200 composers. The result was announced by president Junior Escafura that same Saturday morning.
The champion samba-enredo was composed by Wanderley Monteiro, who now becomes a nine-time champion in disputes at the school, alongside six partners: Vinicius Ferreira, Jefferson Oliveira, Hélio Porto, Orlando Ambrosio, W. Correa, and Rafael Gigante. The final samba dispute began Friday night and also featured partnerships led by Jorge do Batuke and Cecília Cruz.
The next carnival of the blue and white of Madureira will be signed by carnival designer Paulo Barros. The school's samba school grounds received more than 7 thousand people during the final of the samba-enredo contest, which decided which work will represent Portela at the Sapucaí in 2027.
