President Lula made a quick stop in Barretos, in the Ribeirão Preto region, before heading to São José do Rio Preto, where he had a political agenda. The visit was to Hospital do Amor, a specific commitment focused on health matters.
At the hospital, Lula learned about the new rehabilitation center and highlighted the role of SUS, especially in caring for cancer patients. The president emphasized the importance of the public health system during his speech at the location.
When talking about the pandemic, Lula criticized the actions of the federal government at the time and stated that approximately 400,000 deaths could have been avoided if science had been followed by the executive branch.
Despite the country going through a tense political moment in Brasília, Lula did not comment on the crisis involving the STF nor on the investigations involving his son, known as Lulinha. The focus of his visit to Barretos was exclusively on health. After the visit, the president headed to São José do Rio Preto, where he was participating in a political event alongside Fernando Haddad.
