João Victor Gonçalves, the 24-year-old actor who plays the character Mau Mau in the series "Quem Ama Cuida", was targeted with laughter and jokes upon arriving at Rock in Rio last Saturday, the 4th. Streamer GH Reel RJ was doing a live stream on the Kick platform when he filmed the actor walking alone to the VIP area entrance of the festival. During the broadcast, the streamer and two guys who were with him followed João for a few seconds, laughing and making jokes about his outfit, saying phrases like "Wow, what is that? Man, hideous. The guy went with a tomato".
After the video went viral on social media, João Victor used his social media to comment on the episode. He said he was emotional about the messages of support he received and stated that the situation represents what the LGBTQIA+ community constantly faces. "I just opened Twitter and I'm seeing a lot of things and I'm even getting emotional about what I'm reading there, what people are saying. But this really is a reflection of everything we show," he added.
Gil do Vigor also spoke out about the attacks on the actor, showing outrage at the situation. In his reaction, he stated that "homophobia is not entertainment", criticizing the behavior of those responsible for the video and highlighting the severity of the harassment the young man suffered at the event.
