The first edition of the Commedia a La Carte festival, which brings Jerry Seinfeld to Lisbon, is being affected by a wave of cancellations. The "Tributo Pop" show, which would have brought together artists Carolina Deslandes, Tatanka and Bárbara Tinoco, has already been cancelled, as has the concert by Conjunto Cuca Monga.
Jerry Seinfeld is the headliner of the festival. The American comedian has publicly expressed his support for Israel, which appears to be behind some of the cancellations.
These cancellations come in the context of a movement of artists who have been boycotting events associated with figures perceived as favorable to Israel, due to the war in the Gaza Strip. Several shows and concerts in Portugal have been cancelled in recent weeks for similar reasons.
