PS-M demands commitment from the Republic for financing the new Hospital

Funchal Notícias5 September 2026 at 16:25

PS Madeira expressed today its concern over the lack of formal guarantees from the Republic's Government regarding the 50% financing for the new phase of construction and equipment of the Central and University Hospital of Madeira.

The president of PS-Madeira, Célia Pessegueiro, warned about this situation in statements made at the hospital construction site, expressing doubts about the central government's effective commitment to this health infrastructure.

The 50% financing from the Republic had been agreed as part of the conditions for the construction of the new hospital, which is an infrastructure considered essential for the autonomous region of Madeira.

The position of PS-Madeira comes at a time when construction is advancing, but without the necessary legal security regarding the financial support promised by the Portuguese executive.
