The Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, confirmed his candidacy for the position of prime minister. The decision was announced after he had speculated about the possibility of running in recent weeks.
Vucic had already revealed on the 20th that he would bring forward the legislative elections scheduled for the end of 2027 by almost a year, which opened the way for this confirmation of his candidacy for the executive.
The anticipation of the election represents a significant change in the country's political calendar, allowing Vucic to run for the position of prime minister before the initially scheduled deadline.
With this candidacy, Vucic seeks to maintain control of the executive power in Serbia, after his presidential term.
