The remains of Ratko Mladic were transported to Serbia on a Serbian government plane. The repatriation was received in Belgrade on Thursday, where military honors were paid to the war criminal.
The funeral ceremony generated serious diplomatic unease between Belgrade and the European Union. The Serbian government decided to proceed with the transfer despite international criticism and pressure. Serbia, as a country candidate for EU accession, faces tension with its European partners due to the decision to publicly honor Mladic.
