A man identified as Leandro Cavalcante was shot and killed on Friday night (4th) in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. According to preliminary information from the Civil Police, he would be a criminal who attempted to rob an off-duty military police officer. The police officer reacted to the approach and fired at Leandro, who did not survive his injuries.
The military police officer was not injured during the incident. He was approached near Ailton Henrique da Costa Avenue, where he suffered the attempted robbery. After shooting the suspect, he suffered no physical damage.
Agents from the 31st Military Police Battalion (BPM) of Recreio dos Bandeirantes were called to respond to the robbery incident and police presence was reinforced in the area after the incident. The action happened during the night.
