The Portuguese company Fantastic Box is taking Capítulo Perfeito, an event created in Carcavelos in 2012 and dedicated to surfers specializing in tubular waves, to Desert Point, Indonesia, in an investment of approximately 100,000 euros. This operation marks the internationalization of the Portuguese format, with Desert Point being a world-class wave that has never hosted an event of this nature. The waiting period has begun and runs until September 15, with the event taking place on a single day when the required sea conditions are met, featuring eight surfists competing for a prize of ten thousand euros and a wildcard for Capítulo Perfeito 2027.
Rui Costa, founder and mentor of the project, considers this expansion represents the "phase 2.0 of growth" of the concept, emphasizing that they are exporting the concept and the brand. Fantastic Box works with three people and earns approximately 700,000 euros annually, having registered the trademarks Capítulo Perfeito and Perfect Chapter in the main surf markets worldwide. The last edition in Carcavelos generated approximately 24 million euros in direct economic impact and reached more than 70 million people through broadcast in 87 countries.
For Desert Point, the format had to be adapted: eight surfers divided into two non-elimination rounds and a 45-minute final, maintaining the rule that only tubes are scored. The logistics operation is more complex due to accessibility and connectivity limitations, requiring a local partner, since foreign companies cannot operate directly in Indonesia. The call will be given with 72 hours' notice within the waiting window.
Mozambique is confirmed for 2027, after the event did not go ahead in 2026 due to lack of adequate conditions. The company's strategy is to have a maximum of three events in different geographies to take advantage of different wave seasons, with the goal of building an international circuit without depending on support from each destination. After Indonesia, Capítulo Perfeito will return to Portugal between November 1 and December 15, consolidating Carcavelos as the base while expanding to other markets.
