A total of 33 sub-Saharan migrants arrived at the Spanish islands on Saturday. Twenty-nine of them landed at 10:00 on the coast of Illetes, in Calvià, Mallorca, in an urban area with a small pier located in front of first-line residential buildings. Another twelve migrants were intercepted on the island of Cabrera.
The migrants were intercepted by the Guardia Civil from the main post of Calvià, in an operation that also involved the Security Unit of the Command. The authorities did not provide information on the exact nationality of the migrants or their state of health.
This incident occurs in the context of a significant increase in migrant arrivals to the Balearic Islands in recent years, a migratory route that has been intensifying consistently.
