US Envoys in Moscow: Putin announces three-day ceasefire to allow negotiations in Kiev

Expresso5 September 2026 at 11:49

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a three-day ceasefire during a visit by American envoys to Moscow. The truce was decided to allow negotiations related to the situation in Ukraine.

Both Ukraine and the United States had made a request to Moscow for the Russians to refrain from attacks during the visit by American representatives to the two capitals. Putin agreed to this request on Saturday.

The ceasefire aims to create conditions for the advancement of negotiations on the crisis, allowing diplomatic talks to proceed without hostilities.

The visit by US envoys to Moscow and Kiev represents an international effort to find a solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
