TRE-PI denies PSTU registration and blocks candidacy for Governor and Senate; party appeals

Portal O Dia5 September 2026 at 10:47

The Regional Electoral Court of Piauí denied the registration of PSTU in the state, blocking the party's candidacies for Governor and Senate. The decision prevents the party's candidates from participating in the elections.

The PSTU stated it will appeal the decision. The party argues that it is seeking to regularize its legal situation with the court.

The PSTU convention was held on July 29. However, the requests to regularize the party's accounts were submitted on August 22, that is, after the convention was held.

The late submission of regularization documents was one of the factors that led TRE-PI to deny the party's registration and, consequently, the candidacies for Governor and Senate.
