US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow to mediate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. The visit aims to revive negotiation efforts to end Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine that began in February 2022.
The envoys were met at the airport by Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, according to the Russian state news agency Tass. The visit comes amid intensified aerial attacks from both sides of the conflict.
The last known visit to Moscow by Witkoff and Kushner, who is the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, was in January 2026, when they met with the Russian head of state, Vladimir Putin, at the Kremlin.
The US envoys have never visited Kyiv, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he expected them in the Ukrainian capital on Sunday.
