Half of young people have already faced hate messages online, according to data from the EU Kids Online 2025 report. The study analyses the risks that children and young people face with access to social media and the internet in general.
Susana Batista, one of the coordinators of this report, was invited to explain the main dangers identified. EU Kids Online is a European research network that regularly studies how children use technology and the associated risks.
The 2025 report comes in a context where young people's access to digital platforms has been increasing significantly, making it urgent to understand and mitigate the negative impacts of exposure to harmful content online.
The coordination of the study by Susana Batista allows for the interpretation of the collected data and the identification of patterns of behaviour and exposure of young people to risk situations in the digital environment.
