"Chaos in waste" worsens storm Kristin's bill

Storm Kristin caused what is described as a "chaos in waste," significantly worsening the bill of damages caused by the meteorological phenomenon.

The affected municipality reported damages of 160 million euros to CCDR Centro, requesting support under the Municipal Emergency Fund.

However, the amount received by the municipality was only 3.9 million euros, as an advance, representing approximately 2.5% of the total damages reported.

This enormous discrepancy between the damages reported and the financial support received illustrates the difficulties faced by municipalities in recovering from extreme weather events.
