A signalling system failure interrupted train circulation on the North Line in the Cartaxo area at 10:40 on Saturday, September 5. The occurrence was registered at the technical station of Santana Resguardo, according to an official source from Infraestruturas de Portugal confirmed to the news agency.
The company responsible for managing the railway network indicated that technical teams were on site to resolve the problem. Infraestruturas de Portugal estimated that the failure could be resolved in about half an hour, allowing the resumption of rail traffic.
"I am on site and we hope, very soon, to have the situation resolved so that trains can resume circulating," the company source stated. The reasons that caused the signalling system failure were not immediately known.
