Bolivian police confirmed two dead and seven missing persons following an explosion that occurred yesterday, September 4, at military facilities located in the municipality of Viacha, situated about 30 kilometres from the city of La Paz. The incident also resulted in 59 injured.
The causes of the explosion have not yet been clarified by the authorities. Rescue operations are still underway at the affected barracks facilities, while authorities investigate the circumstances that led to the disaster.
The municipality of Viacha, where the tragedy occurred, is located in the metropolitan region of La Paz, the country's capital. This is one of the most recent incidents involving military facilities in Bolivia in recent years.
