ASAE seizes more than 20 thousand liters of wine in Guarda

Correio da Manhã5 September 2026 at 11:49

The ASAE seized more than 20 thousand liters of wine in Guarda. The operation was carried out by the Food and Economic Safety Authority in the district of Guarda.

The labels on the wine bottles omitted the indication regarding the origin of the wine. This omission represents an infraction of the labeling rules for food products.

The seizure is part of a broader inspection operation aimed at verifying compliance with the marketing and labeling standards for alcoholic beverages in the region.

Seguro: Rating credibility must be "at the service of a more productive economy"

The Ministry of Finance, led by Miranda Sarmento, celebrated the upgrade as "another great victory for Portugal", highlighting that this is already the fourth rating revision in the past two years, including those promoted by S&P.

Debt review? Portugal "can be rewarded by the markets"

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) will proceed in March with a revision of Portuguese GDP, which may mechanically reduce the public debt ratio as a percentage of GDP. Economists such as João Borges Assunção and Óscar Afonso diverge on the real impact of this revision: while the first believes it can be "rewarded by markets" through reductions in spreads relative to Germany, the second warns that the debt in euros does not disappear and that the statistical improvement should not be confused with effective fiscal consolidation. Both agree, however, that the State Budget for 2027 should be built without depending on these still unknown statistical changes.
