Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced today a maximum support of 12 million euros for the Douro region. The objective of this funding is to compensate small Douro wine producers who face economic difficulties.
According to Montenegro, small producers lack the capacity to sell their products, which justifies the need for this financial support. The measure aims to help them cope with the crisis affecting the sector in the Duriense region.
The Prime Minister argued that this compensation is necessary to preserve the activity of small producers and guarantee the sustainability of wine production in the Douro region, one of the most traditional in Portugal.
