Postal do Algarve5 September 2026 at 10:20

The municipal company Taviraverde will alternately restrict traffic on sections of 30 streets, squares, plazas and access routes in Tavira starting September 11, due to infrastructure renovation works associated with the elimination of saline intrusions for reuse in irrigation. This intervention is part of the project designated "6-EMP/24_E200 — Elimination of Saline Intrusions for Reuse in Irrigation".

The area covered includes locations such as Praça da República, the Ancient Bridge over the Gilão River, Escadinhas do Castelo, Estrada das 4 Águas, Rua da Liberdade, Rua das Salinas and various squares, including Largo José Pires Padinha and Largo Tomás Cabreira. In total, 30 roads and access routes are affected, with their collectors marked in yellow in a scheme released by the municipal company.

Taviraverde guarantees that the restrictions will be applied alternately, ensuring access for residents and emergency vehicles during the execution of the works. The company apologized for the inconvenience caused by the intervention.

The article does not indicate the expected duration of the work or the specific schedule for the works on each street. The area subject to restrictions is outlined in red on the map released by Taviraverde.

Israeli army killed seven World Central Kitchen humanitarian workers in Gaza after associating them with Hamas. But they were not from Hamas

An investigation revealed that seven World Central Kitchen humanitarian workers were killed by the Israeli army in Gaza in April 2024 after a misidentification that associated them with Hamas. The attack resulted from a controversial military practice that gives commanders leeway to identify targets based on the alleged association with combatants. Although World Central Kitchen had coordinated the movements of its teams with Israeli forces, a convoy with three international staff members was hit by three rockets, causing deaths of various nationalities. Israel attributed the incident to a misassessment and failures to follow established procedures.
