The Official State Gazette (BOE) published on Saturday the order from the Ministry of the Interior extending controls at ports and airports on travelers from Italy by 15 days, until September 22. This measure affects passengers arriving from Italy to Spanish territory.
The decision to extend the controls comes as a result of Italy deciding to prolong for two weeks the suspension of the Schengen agreement with Spain. This situation reflects the tensions between the two countries regarding the free movement of people within the European space.
The implemented controls apply to both ports and airports, covering all travelers coming from Italy during the period of validity of the measure. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior is responsible for the order establishing these temporary restrictions.
