The secretary-general of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, today demanded that the Portuguese Government use its diplomatic capacity to help lift the "criminal blockade" of the United States of America against Cuba. This demand arises in the context of a historical position of the Portuguese communist party in solidarity with the Cuban island. Paulo Raimundo points to the American embargo as harmful to the Cuban population. The PCP thus maintains its position of defending the rights of the Cuban people and ending the sanctions imposed by the United States.
