The Attorney General's Office opened an investigation into the conduct of the Federal Police in preparing a two hundred and eighteen-page report that exposed messages between Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court, and banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master. Attorney General Paulo Gonet sent an official communication to the president of the STF, Edson Fachin, requesting clarifications on the case.
In the dispatch, Gonet points out that the order to further investigate Vorcaro's messages was determined by Justice André Mendonça, but would have been concealed from the Public Ministry. The head of the PGR formally notified the Federal Police to clarify whether there were external orders that compromised the integrity of the document.
The attorney argued that any investigative act directed at Court justices requires prior authorization from the STF plenary, reinforcing the thesis of nullity of procedures determined on the initiative of André Mendonça. Gonet emphasized the need to respect the legal procedure established for investigations involving members of the highest court in the judiciary.
The report also exposes messages in which the attorney general himself is cited in dealings to approach Daniel Vorcaro, including mentions of an event in London financed by the banker. The PGR's investigation seeks to ascertain the circumstances under which the document was produced and whether there were irregularities in the process.
