Thomas Christopher Ross, winner of the Republican primaries in Missouri for the state representative seat, was arrested on Wednesday (2) accused of planting drugs in his political opponent's car, Louise Secker. The information was first reported by NBC and confirmed by the U.S. Federal Court on Friday (4).
Ross, 37, won the Republican primaries last month and became the party's candidate for district 161, which covers the city of Joplin, in the Missouri House of Representatives. The race had been held between him and Louise Secker.
According to federal prosecutors, Ross allegedly planted cocaine and Adderall — a stimulant medication used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder — in his opponent's vehicle. The candidate's campaign manager was the one who reported the crime to police in July, after Ross handed the drugs over to him.
