Estêvão and his camp are concerned about the space the Brazilian will have at Chelsea under Xabi Alonso. The forward fears losing minutes given the strong competition in the offensive sector and, mainly, being shifted to the wing-back role in the system adopted by the Spanish coach, as happened with Portuguese player Pedro Neto.
However, the situation does not yet mean Estêvão intends to leave Chelsea or that there is any conflict with Xabi Alonso. The concern arises amid the first weeks of work under the new manager.
Estêvão spent approximately three months sidelined by a serious muscle injury in his right thigh, suffered in April, which kept him out of the World Cup. In the first official matches of the season, Alonso adopted a system with three center-backs and used Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers behind João Pedro, with the trio starting in the victories over Fulham, 3-2, and Brighton, 4-3, in the Premier League.
