Diogo Defante Attracts Crowd on Alternative Stage at Rock in Rio 2026

Humorist and broadcaster Diogo Defante made his debut as a singer on the first day of Rock in Rio 2026, drawing a massive crowd to the Supernova stage, a space dedicated to the festival's smaller acts. With "nonsense" songs and plenty of profanity, Defante surprised everyone by managing to fill an alternative stage at the event.

Before dedicating himself to comedy, Defante told the audience he was in a band for seven years. He thanked the crowd saying it was "unbelievable" to be at Rock in Rio. Known on social media as the "crazy reporter," the artist drags millions of followers online.

The audience present was diverse but mostly made up of men and teenagers who sang along to repetitive, easy-to-learn choruses, as well as covers of hits like "Like a Stone" by Audioslave. The show featured a futuristic theme and special LED costumes, inspired by the single "Humanoide."

Right at the start of the performance, Defante brought out a humanoid robot for the opening, with humor present in all interactions with the audience. At one point, the crowd followed his lead and opened a big mosh pit.

Spanish author Alicia Giménez Bartlett celebrates the 30th anniversary of her popular crime novel series with "Bajo el cielo infernal," where her detective Petra Delicado faces the murder of a Jesuit priest in the disadvantaged neighborhood of La Mina, Barcelona. In the work, the protagonist deals with grief while unraveling parish intrigues and dark secrets of the streets. In an interview, Bartlett states that "crime is banal" and that it is necessary to complicate the plots in fiction, as reality alone does not provide enough material for a good novel.
