The Swedish band The Hives was the second act of the first night of Rock in Rio, starting their presentation promptly at 7 PM. A sonar appeared on the screens announcing the quintet, which took the stage dressed in their characteristic black and white suits, now with luminous details. The audience was still arriving at the front of the stage after the end of the shows by Detonautas and Biquini Cavadão on the Sunset stage.
The Swedes started energized to the sound of "Enough is enough," followed by "Main offender." During the show, singer Pelle Almqvist risked some words in Portuguese, saying: "Ladies and gentlemen and everyone else, this song is called 'Hooray hooray hooray'."
With only ten minutes of presentation, the increase in the audience dancing to the band's garage rock sound was already noticeable. The group continued without stopping to jump, with the sound at full volume, presenting songs like "Paint a picture" and "Bogus operandi."
