In January 1985, three people - Luzia Martins, Claudio Vinicio Alves, and Maria Izabel Guardarine - had the same destination: the first Rock in Rio. They didn't know each other, but they shared the desire to watch shows by their favorite bands at the festival.
With a backpack on their backs, little money, and lots of energy, the three of them faced days of camping during the event. Luzia and Maria stayed two days at the festival, while Cláudio spent an impressive ten days sleeping in a tent to make the most of the shows possible.
Maria Izabel already had rock friends, with whom she used to meet to listen to heavy metal. When she found out about the festival, however, she couldn't find anyone available to accompany her on the trip. She then decided to take courage and leave alone for the last weekend of the event.
She bought a bus ticket from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro and arrived in the city in the early morning. She spent the first night at the bus station, where she found other people who had already been there since the previous Thursday, all waiting for the festival.
